Ear Health and Microsuction Service
What is the Ear Microsuction & Health Service?
This is a comprehensive non-NHS service that includes assessment of your ears for wax and hearing loss, wax removal with microsuction, and a hearing test. We use state-of-the-art equipment and digital technology which allows us to offer a unique and comprehensive service through the production of clinical reports of your care. This includes images and videos which can be sent to specialist doctors for further assessment if needed.
Who is this service for?
This service is for anyone who has symptoms of ear wax blockage despite simple measures to keep their ear canals free of problematic wax build up. If you have had problems before than you may be confident that we can offer you the service you need but if you are not sure or if you have severe symptoms, it may be advisable to contact your GP for advice before booking with us. You can read more about the symptoms of ear wax build up and self-management on the NHS Website.
What is ear microsuction?
Microsuction uses a small tube and air suction to clear your ear canals of wax build up. This is the safest way removing ear wax for patients who suffer problematic ear wax build up despite simple measures to keep their ears clear. It is now recognised as the safer option over more traditional ear syringing which is no longer offered by many GP practices due to a higher rate of complications.
Who will provide my care?
The clinic is run by experienced nurses who are fully trained and accredited by the British Society of Audiologists and ENT UK. They are supported and overseen by Dr Hyunkee Kim who has a special interest in ear health and holds a Diploma of Head & Neck Surgery from The Royal College of Surgeons, England. If there are any underlying problems uncovered after your wax removal and hearing test, he will review your case using the digitally produced report and images to advise on further care that might be required through your own GP.
How much does it cost?
An appointment is available at an introductory offer of £60 and this is payable in full at the time of booking. This includes assessment and treatment of both ears, a hearing test, and any extra advice needed from Dr Kim. Sometimes you may need a second appointment to fully remove heavily built up ear wax which will be provided at no extra cost.
